Summer Reading Program- Session 1
Students will participate in small group, station rotation, reading review activities. One station will be direct instruction with Miss Morgan, certified special educator birth-21 with 7 years experience teaching middle and elementary school and private tutoring. Needs of the group are assessed informally and instruction will be planned accordingly.
This course is designed for learners who are performing below grade level, have learning disabilities, or just need ongoing practice to retain skills through the summer. Manipulatives, hands-on, fun activities, and engaging games will be built into sessions so that your child will ENJOY coming to our sessions :) I promise!!
Miss Morgan is also Orton Gillingham trained. Although students will not be formally participating in an OG intervention, science of reading & structured literacy strategies will be used.

Rising 1st graders will practice phonemic awareness, letter sounds, and decoding CVC words with supports depending on their individual levels.
Rising 2nd graders will practice phonics and fluency on their appropriate levels. Sentence and word reading fluency will be addressed.
Rising 3rd & 4th graders will work on reading fluency and comprehension. Sentences and stories will be used to keep readers fluent over the summer.
All class will…
Include 3-4 stations in which students will participate.

Include manipulatives, modifications, and accommodations to make all participants successful.
