Students will participate in small group, station rotation, literacy activities. One station will be direct instruction with Miss Morgan, certified special educator birth-21 with 7 years experience teaching middle and elementary school and private tutoring. Instruction will be backed by Science of Reading best practices. Miss Morgan is trained in Orton Gillingham, which will be embedded into the program. Needs of the group are assessed informally and instruction will be planned accordingly.
This course is designed for learners who are performing below grade level, have learning disabilities, or just need ongoing practice to retain skills through the summer. Manipulatives, hands-on, fun activities, and engaging games will be built into sessions so that your child will ENJOY coming to “school"!” :) I promise!!

Rising 1st will engage in visual and auditory sound practice, blending drills of CVC words, and sight word practice.
Rising 2nd graders will practice spelling, review syllable types, and blend longer words and read sentences.
Rising 3rd & 4th graders will practice oral reading fluency of sentences and passages, and review and practice reading comprehension strategies.
All classes will…
Include 3-4 stations in which students will participate.
